Game HQ Commander Rules

Commander Rules:

Construct your deck using exactly 100 cards with no duplicate cards except for basic lands. Select one of these cards as your “Commander.” The Commander must be a legendary creature. You may not include any cards in your deck with mana symbols that do not match your Commander’s casting cost. This includes casting cost, activated abilities, symbols on lands, etc. For example, if your Commander is black and green, then you may only include colorless or artifact cards and cards with black and/or green mana symbols in your deck.

Remove your Commander from your deck and set it aside at the beginning of each game. You may play your Commander from this “Command” zone anytime you can play a creature spell. Whenever your Commander would be placed into your graveyard or exiled, you may choose to put the Commander back in the Command zone instead. Each time after the first you summon your Commander from the Command zone you must add 2 colorless mana to its casting cost. This penalty is cumulative. Note, however, that this rule doesn’t apply if a Commander is put back in your hand or deck.

Players start at 40 life. However, if you take 21 points of damage from a Commander, then you also lose. You must keep track of Commander damage separately. We will use the “Paris/Brittany” mulligan rules. After you draw your initial hand of 7 cards, you may choose to keep any of them and set aside the rest and draw that many minus one. You may repeat this process, drawing one less each time. Shuffle the remaining cards set aside back into your library. The player who plays first does not draw a card except in multi-player format.

We will not use a sideboard. Wishes can only get cards that have been removed from the game.

In addition, the following Commanders are banned: Braids, Cabal Minion; Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary.
